Takin' y'all back in time to a young and mullet-less Morgan Wallen, when his music wasn't dominating the charts and before he was the biggest artist in Country music.
During season 6 of The Voice, Wallen auditioned with the 2003 hit song "Collide" by Howie Day. During a sit-down with Country Countdown USA, Wallen explained that he wanted to sing a country song but they wanted him to sing pop. He explained how his elimination process went as well; "I made the top 20. When I made it there, I got a list of songs to choose from. A Florida Georgia Line song was the only country song on the list, so I sang their song and got kicked off. It shows you how things come full circle. Now I have a song with them."
Shakira was the first to turn her chair for Morgan, followed by Usher at the last second. Despite some mild humor, Blake didn't have any more room on his team and was unable to turn his chair. Same goes with Adam Levine, who later stole Morgan from Team Usher.
Wallen's voice is still raspy but it sounds a little more soft and soulful here, I'll also note that he has less twang, which at this time, I thought he could've been a good soft-rock singer.
Considering I'm a fan of both that Howie Day song and country music, I was a Morgan Wallen fan from the start.
I never would've thought I'd drink as many beers and whiskey's as I have to this guys music at the time, but here we are..
