Throwback To George Strait Performing "God & Country Music" At The ACM Awards

In honor of the 57th annual ACM Award's this week, we're going back a few years to honor The King.

In 2019, George Strait released a surprise song, "God and Country Music," and not only does it have a special meaning, it also featured vocals from his, at the time, 6 year old grandson.

Written by Luke Laird, Barry Dean and Lori McKenna, the song is as traditional as something Strait would've released in the 80's or 90's. Staying true to his roots, the song gives us the notion that Country music and God are the two things still worth "saving."

That year, it was released on his last album "Honky Tonk Time Machine" and The King returned to the ACM Stage to perform it, live.

I can still remember the first time I heard it, sitting on my staircase and playing it over and over. It's a beautiful song and George Strait's smooth vocals give it the sincerity and honesty that it deserved.

Check out his ACM performance below.
