An award well fucking deserved.
It'a no longer taboo for an award show to release some of the winners for certain categories ahead of the actual award show now a days. And today? Parker received a surprise "last minute interview" call from Miranda Lambert to inform him he was the ACM New Male Artist Of The Year.
When Miranda, a 29-time ACM Award winner, popped up on his zoom call, Parker seemed to be a tad confused and was literally speechless when she first delivered the news.
"I'm like getting blurry vision right now. Are you joking? are you dead serious, I won? .....This one's for Texas, no doubt."
Parker McCollum is going to have a pretty huge career in Country music. As someone that blends the mainstream country radio sound with his Texas roots and smooth whiny (in a good way) vocals, it's really no surprise at all.
For those who may be wondering, the winner for Female New Artist Of The Year was also announced by Miranda Lambert in the same fashion and the person taking home that award goes to none other than Lainey Wilson. Two great winners. I wish this was foreshadowing for what would be a decent ACM Award show but I wouldn't hold your breath.
The 5th Academy of Country Music Awards will air on Amazon Prime, commercial free, on March 7th at 8p.m. eastern.
