Takin' y'all back in time to 2010.
"My Kinda Party," Jason Aldean's fourth studio album and arguably his biggest to date, was a MASSIVE album with five singles that really solidified him as the biggest Country artist in the world at that moment.
I personally remember hoppin' in my car after a long shift at the Food Lion, taking my shirt off because it was 90 degrees and I had no A/C, just to turn on "Dirt Road Anthem," or "Texas Was You" and go cruisin' to a buddies house to drink some good 'ol underage beers. Ahh, life was good.
I remember paying $80 bucks a piece, plus the god damn Ticketmaster fees, just to see Luke Bryan open up for him on the My Kinda Party tour, the hottest ticket in town. Funny how things have changed, huh?
My Kinda Party was nominated for Best Country Album at the 54th Grammy Awards and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. It produced the massive collaboration with Kelly Clarkson, "Don't You Wanna Stay," and gave fans a remix of "Dirt Road Anthem" featuring Ludacris. (Looking back, this album, as damn good as it is, may have paved the way for some of the shitty 'Country' music we've received over the years. Whoops.)
All in all, this record had five singles and could've had multiple more. One of those? "See You When I See you."
See You When I See You starts off slow and simple but as soon as Aldean's whiney, emotional vocals come in, it hits you.
The song tells a story of a couple (or hell, maybe even a friendship) that has come to and end and hoping that they can meet once again and reminisce about the old days, while catching up on the new.
Other than Jason Aldean's live cover of "Heaven" he did with Bryan Adams, this track has the best Aldean vocals I've ever heard and his delivery is honest and raw.
Should've been a radio single.
